Specialty Programs

We are committed to addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient AND family members in the final stages of life.

Many people come to hospice after several challenging years dealing with serious illness and family members. We hope this online resource helps family caregivers cope with the challenges they may face during this time.

And we will remain there for them as they begin to heal after the loss of their loved one.

Grief support groups

Losing a loved one is undeniably one of the hardest of life’s passages. To help you on your journey of healing, Gentle Shepherd Hospice offers support groups for grieving family members and friends of all ages. Your loved one does not need to have been on our hospice service for you to participate.

Support groups involve a casual format where attendees share their experiences and the adjustments they have had to make. Joining with others and learning about common responses to grief can help you feel not so alone with the process.

Gentle Shepherd’s support groups are facilitated by Martha Furman, LPC, with Total Life Counseling in Roanoke. All who are grieving are welcome. There is no charge to attend. Give us a call at 800-789-0586 or visit GentleShepherdHospice.com for the times and locations of our current support groups.
