The Heritage Area Agency on Aging has Task Forces on Aging in each of the counties served. These Task Forces: assist in developing the area's strategic plan. conduct meetings that relate to aging issues. represent the interests of older persons residing in their respective counties. reviewing and commenting on community policies, programs and actions which affect older persons with the intent of assuring maximum coordination and responsiveness to and for older persons.

The Visibility Action Team is a volunteer organization that seeks to provide information, resources,  and advocacy to older adults in Johnson County who are lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, trans-sexual, queer, or intersex.

We offer a wide variety of services at the Community Mental Health Center, ranging from Psychiatric Care to assisting the homeless in getting back on their feet.
This national advocacy group sponsors online and in-person support groups for the mentally ill and their families. They can also help with education about diseases and treatments, as well as providing "StigmaBuster" tools.
