Are you caring for someone with a serious illness? If so, you've come to the right place! We have created this website as a family caregiver resource, to help the seriously ill and their families learn how to live as comfortably as they can within the context of their disease. Whether you need tips on handling the medical and physical aspects of care (e.g., pain management, nutrition and eating), are concerned about emotional or spiritual issues (e.g., grief, hope, family conflict), or simply want to know about important legal and financial decisions, seriousillness.org/pima is the place to turn. We even have a listing of local, state, and national programs that offer services and support.
"Casa de la Luz" is Spanish for "house of light." That's what one needs when facing a terminal illness ― a house of light, to provide comfort, support, and experienced hospice care during the end-of-life journey. When the final months of life approach, most people agree that they want to be at home, treated with respect, free of pain, have personal wishes upheld, and to be remembered. Casa strives to accomplish all this for every patient... because every day counts. Founded in 1998 by two Tucson women, Lynette Jaramillo and Agnes Poore, RN, Casa de la Luz Hospice has become a leading provider of superior hospice care to terminally ill patients and their families throughout Tucson and the surrounding communities.
The Casa Team is Quick to Respond:
In the Hospital - We can help patients plan for our hospice service to begin in most any setting.
At Home - We take care of immediate needs first and arrange scheduled visits by our hospice team.
In Crisis - Our expert nursing staff answers phone calls 24 hours a day to ensure that critical situations are controlled.
In a Nursing Home/Assisted Living Center - Our hospice professionals work side by side with current care staff to give specialized attention. We provide all entitled benefits, including medications, equipment, and medical supplies.
